We had a lot of fun recently on a two day shoot with GlynnDevins for their client Friendship Village, a senior retirement community in Tempe, Arizona.

Working with Lindsey Riechers (Art Director), Jeremy Johnson (Creative Director) & Elda Starke (Producer) was a trip. Our talent was pretty great, too. We learned there are tons of ways to remain active as you grow older and Friendship Village provides their residents with so many great options.

And we actually got to see it rain in Phoenix, which made for a lush backdrop in the desert valley!

On Location & In Studio with Kansas City-based GreenEarth Cleaning

This winter we did a shoot for GreenEarth Cleaning, a sustainable dry cleaning company based in Kansas City, Missouri. GreenEarth needed a library of images shot both in studio and on location for their and their affiliates' use. 

In studio, we shot a number of items that GreenEarth cleans, restores and repairs, as well as some lifestyle imagery. A few of our location shots were a little tricky since we needed to capture summertime images, and the high that week was only 14 degrees. Brrrr... That's where rock-star talent and running cars ready for you to jump into and warm up come into play!

All in all, the shoot was great fun and the client got exactly what they'd hoped for. Isn't that what it all comes down to?

Ballin' with the University of Kansas Men's & Women's Basketball Teams

Last fall, we collaborated with Muller Bressler Brown on a shoot for the University of Kansas men's football team. That project lead to us shooting the 2014-2015 University of Kansas men's and women's basketball teams as well. Boy, did we have a ball! Pun intended. :) 

We even had the opportunity to shoot all of the Championship rings KU has won over the years. It was pretty cool to see those up close!

We recently finished up a project for editorial client Corporate Counsel, an award-winning media property of ALM. Corporate Counsel is recognized as one of the best integrated legal business publications in the nation.

Colby enjoyed working with John Guyot, General Counsel, and Aidan Koster, Legal Administrator, of Security Benefit Corp. in Topeka, KS. Shooting on location, he captured the dynamic partnership these two possess for a cover story on the value of legal administrators.

If you've ever shopped for a mortgage, you understand how painful the process can be. Unless, of course, you went to UMB Mortgage!
 
We partnered with Kyle Anthony, Tom Demetriou and Thomas Price on an in studio project for UMB Mortgage. The concept was to show the contrast between how easy it is to get a mortgage with UMB and how difficult the process can be elsewhere.

We Were "Fearless" for Blue Cross Blue Shield

Not long ago Sullivan Higdon & Sink asked us to collaborate on a project for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City. The idea was to regionalize BCBS's national "Fearless" campaign so it resonated with segments of the Kansas City market.

We had four images to shoot at three different locations in two days — a young girl playing in the rain, two men running in a park, a family grilling dinner outside their home and a woman out for a jog.

The shoot had to be postponed due to severe thunderstorms and flash flood warnings, which meant we had to create our own rain for our young talent to play in. Ironic, we know... But lucky for us, we know a guy who can make it rain!

We battled the heat after the rain by having the ice cream man swing by. If you read our last blog post, it might seem like ice cream is becoming a theme around here. 

We called in reinforcements for the heat – the ice cream truck!

Ann Alcasabas, Nick Kinney, Rachel Chrisman and Jon Knowing of SHS were a blast to work with. The talent was great fun and didn't mind running up and down hills, sprinting over and over again, standing over a hot grill or splashing in puddles.

I Scream, You Scream...

Summertime heat = dilly bars, ice cream cakes and blizzards. Right? At least it did for us!

We had oodles of fun working on a tasty lifestyle shoot for Dairy Queen with Barkley. Dairy Queen needed a library of images to showcase some clean, summer fun. Working on location in the Kansas City metro area, we spent a few days tempting ourselves with sundaes, blizzards, burgers, fries and more...

Passion Meets Profession: Minnesota Wild NHL Hockey Shoot

What's better than being able to intertwine your passion and your profession? Nothing. That's what happened when we were asked to work with Olson in Minneapolis, MN on some wicked awesome concepts for the Minnesota Wild NHL Hockey team.

As an added bonus, the below image went viral when the Wild met the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL playoffs as scores of Wild fans posted the image to their Facebook pages in support of their team.

Colby also captured some motion footage while on location, then partnered with 19below to cut these 15's:

Collaboration with Muller Bressler Brown for St. Francis Women's Services

We finished up a really fun shoot with Robb Reed of Muller Bressler Brown for St. Francis Women's Services recently. 

With the camera rigged 15 feet overhead and the bedtime scene set, Colby used a controller to shoot. At times, he hid behind foam core to gauge and capture just the right moment. There were also the times it seemed he was simply ogling the itty, bitty baby. 

To make that baby fall asleep, we cranked the heat up to 82 degrees. So while the baby was pacified, the rest of us were sweating like crazy!

If you know Colby, you know NO ONE can keep a straight face with him in the room. Even him. Here he is enjoying a laugh with the talent.

Finally, we can't sign off without mentioning that our good friend Greta stopped by. Too bad we couldn't keep her attention. Check out where else she's been this year.

Rock Chalk, Jayhawk, Go KU!

We recently worked on a project in the University of Kansas football team's locker room for Muller Bressler Brown. Amy Young, Associate Creative Director, brought Colby in because she felt his 10+ years of experience coaching high school hockey lent itself to corralling the 2014 KU football team.

With the music cranked and Colby's "hockey coach" voice in high gear, we let our mouthpiece (No. 8) take the lead and psych up his team.

We couldn't be happier with how the images turned out! Everyone is ecstatic. Images from the shoot can be found on the 2014 KU football season tickets, as well as the 2014 KU football season calendar.

More awesomeness – this project lead to another shoot for the KU men's and women's basketball teams which is happening this week. Details on that shoot to be revealed at a later date...
